- Description
- The US Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District, intends to award a contract to make modifications to the spillway at The Dalles Dam. The work involves fabrication and installation of 4 vortex suppression devices (VSDs), two in Bay 6 and two in Ba y 7. Each VSD is made of painted steel, and weighs approximately 40,000 pounds (approximately 53-59 feet x 12-16 feet x 2 feet). This work also requires guides and dogging brackets to be fabricated, and attached to the existing spillway pier concrete, a p ortion of which is underwater and will require diving. In addition a gap between the existing baffle block and the spillwall, in the stilling basin, will need to be filled with approximately 4 cubic yards of tremie placed concrete. This work will require divers to set up formwork, install rebar and guide the concrete placement. It is anticipated that the construction period will extend from December 1, 2006 to March 31, 2007. The magnitude of construction is $1,000,000.00 to $5,000,000.00. Tentative bid opening is on or about November 16, 2006 or 30 days after issue. This procurement is open to both small and large business concerns. This solicitation will be available for download from the FedTeDs website, www.fedteds.gov on or about 16 October 2006, with bid opening tentatively 16 November 2006, or 30 days after iss ued.
