- The National Institutes of Health intends to negotiate and award on a sole source basis/sole source purchase order utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures to Leila G. Saldanha, 2021. Huntington Ave., Alexandria, Va. 22303, for a modification to purchase order 263-MD-604570 for an additional twelve (12) months of services being provided to the office of director. Leila G. Saldanha has performed exceptionally well, as her continued role is essential to the completion of the first phase of the bioactive food components initiative. Moreover, the (OD) has identified her as the only known source capable of providing the required services because of her involvement. Further inherent duplication of cost to the government would be time and cost prohibiting.. The period of performance shall be one year from the date of award. 1. The Contractor shall administer the Bioactive Food Components initiative which shall entail the development and preparation of papers for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals 2. The Contractor shall have demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with federal agencies, private sector organizations, academic institutions, and others to help accomplish its programs. 3. The Contractor shall gather information about priorities for method development and validation from industry sources, federal agencies and other interested parties, and shall work with the director of the analytical methods and reference materials program to integrate these into the priorities of the existing program. 4. The Contractor shall develop educational materials on governmental, non-profit, and for-profit groups involved in developing and setting standards, and monitoring the quality of dietary supplements. 5. The Contractor shall work with the deputy director of ODS to publish the seventh issue of the Annual Bibliography of Significant Advances in Dietary Supplement Research. 6. The Contractor shall assist with outreach activities to external stakeholder groups, such as planning and the organization of scientific sessions at professional and trade meetings as they occur. 7. The Contractor shall have at least fifteen (15) years experience in the health and nutrition arena with research assessment and management experience. 8. The Contractor shall have a Ph.D. degree in nutrition or a related field and research experience and one (1) year clinical, laboratory, or epidemiology research experience. 9. The Contactor shall have at least one year experience in scientific writing. It is the Government?s belief that these requirements may only be met by Leila G. Saldanha. This is not a formal solicitation, however, concerns that respond to this notice must furnish concise responses directed specifically to the requirements mentioned above. Sources demonstrating the capability to accomplish the above shall supply pertinent information in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to perform. Information furnished shall include enough material to perform a proper evaluation. Respondents will not be notified of the evaluation results.
