Description
Brookhaven Science Associates plans to acquire a Nanoimprinting tool for the Nanopatterning Laboratory of the Center for Functional Nanomaterials (CFN) at Brookhaven National Laboratory. This device will offer an alternative to traditional optical lithography. Optical lithography mask plates are replaced by templates that directly transfer the pattern on to a polymer-coated substrate such as a silicon wafer using thermal embossing or embossing followed by UV exposure and curing at moderate temperatures. Vendors must supply detailed descriptions and dimensioned layout drawings of the Nanoimprinter, the materials used in its construction, failure rate data and, where applicable, manufacturer?s specifications of subsystems so BSA can evaluate quality of construction. The primary components will be rated for operational reliability, construction quality, and cost. Benchmark specifications are quoted in the following text. The Nanoimprinter will be evaluated on how well it meets or exceeds the operational benchmarks. Where appropriate, the vendor must provide a numerical specification describing the benchmark for each listed item. For each benchmark, vendors must describe how their process approaches, meets, or exceeds the listed criteria and provide a reasonable amount of detail concerning exposure parameters, development chemistry, and exposure speed per given substrate area. BSA reserves the right to submit samples to the vendor's application laboratory and evaluate the results with its own equipment. The following factors, in their relative order of weighting, will be utilized to evaluate the offers: Technical Specifications: Submit operating specifications for the proposed Nanoimprinting system utilizing the same format (Section and Sub-Section numbering) presented by the specifications contained in the solicitation. In addition to the technical benchmarks, vendors will also be evaluated on the following performance and support criteria. Performance Risk: Submit references, points of contact and telephone numbers for all installations of Nanoimpriters or similar systems for the last 3 years. System Support: Provide/discuss as applicable the following: 1. Operating Manuals 2. Warranty 3. Service Contract 4. Spare Parts List 5. Training Proposals are due October 2, 2006, by 4:00 PM, EDT, and shall be submitted to Brookhaven Science Associates, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Attention: D. Paveglio, Bldg. 355, Upton, NY 11973, by US mail This RFP has been sent to the following known manufacturers: Molecular Imprints, 1807 W. Braker Lane, Bldg C-100, Austin, TX 78758-3605 Nanonex Corp., PO Box 3347, Princeton, NY 08543 Obducat, PO Box 580, Hampstead, NH 03841 All other interested vendors may down load Request for Proposal NI112484 from this website or contact David J.
