Description
This announcement is cancelled in its entirety. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation to establish a labor hour contract for the services of a Designer for a period of one year. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The Request for Quotation Number is 113241. The Contractor shall supply one individual to fill the job classification of Designer T3 or T4. The contractor shall provide a Designer T3 or T4 with the experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the following job description: Designers- T3 or T4; Job description: The candidate must be experienced with generating 2D & 3D drawings of complex mechanical assemblies and components using AutoCAD and Inventor software. He/She must have knowledge of machine shop practices, engineering materials, vendor products, as well as demonstrated skill in developing engineering concepts into detailed 3D models and drawings to meet stringent schedule deadlines. Experience in developing layouts and managing the graphic data and familiarity with standard vendor product such as gears, motors, bearings, hydraulic/pneumatic actuators, switches, couplings, etc are basic prerequisites. Major responsibilities will be working with scientific and engineering staff to generate 3D solid models and 2D drawings, including parts lists and bills of material for scientific equipment such as precision manipulators, ultra-high vacuum chambers, magnets, and diagnostic devices. Experience with accelerator, beamline, and/or high vacuum hardware would be helpful. The candidate must possess good verbal and written skills and have knowledge of applicable standards (i.e. dimensioning and tolerances, ANSI Y14.5), codes i.e. ASME, etc. Some overtime may be necessary to achieve department deadlines. The candidate must have good interpersonal skills, strong self-motivation, be flexible and receptive to instructions given by his/her supervising staff members. The work will be performed onsite at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, New York. All quotes submitted in response to this solicitation must provide at a minimum the following: (1) Price Quote (all inclusive) for one full year of designer services; (2) Resume and references of the proposed individual; and (3) Contractor's past performance history (from the previous three years) of providing designers and similar contract labor. All quotes must be submitted in sufficient time to be received by 1:00 pm (local time) on September 28, 2006.
