Description

The Government intends to award a sole source contract to Smith?s Detection Inc. for ION Scanner 400B maintenance and/or repair service in accordance with FAR 6.302-1(b)(1)(i). Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. Smith?s Detection is the manufacture of the currently used Model 400B Drug and Explosive Trace Detection ION Scanner at the 9th Security Forces Squadron. The acquisition of this service and maintenance contract is necessary for the 9th Security Forces Squadron to satisfy mission accomplishment. The procurement of this service must be completed in a timely manner in order to meet mission requirements. Market research has identified Smith?s Detection as the only provider for the maintenance and servicing of the Model 400B Drug and Explosive Trace Detection ION Scanner. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 811310 and the Standard Industrial Code (SIC) is 7699. The business size standard is $6.5M.
