Description
The Government has the intent to make an award for Maintenance service work of Mechanized material handling system in accordance with attached statement of work. The performance period will be one basic year and 1 option year beginning 1 Oct 06 STATEMENT OF WORK MAINTENANCE OF MECHANIZED MATERIEL HANDLING SYSTEM (MMHS) 435th Logistics Readiness Squadron Materiel Management Flight 1. GENERAL: The contractor shall provide all parts, tools, labor, materials, equipment, transportation and personnel necessary to perform scheduled maintenance, repairs and inspections on MMHS equipment. 2. DESCRIPTION OF MMHS: The MMHS consists of: a) A 300-ft conveyor line manufactured by The Horsley Company, Ogden, Utah. b) Two hydraulically operated dock levelers made by Pentalift Equipment Corp. and six hydraulically operated dock levelers made by HAFA Ger?tetechnik. 3. PERIODIC PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE (PPM): The contractor shall perform periodic inspections, adjustments and lubrications as specified below. All PPM shall be performed in accordance with the periodic maintenance guidelines recommended by manufacturer. a. Conveyor System: 1) Rollers: perform maintenance every three months (a) Cleaning of rollers (b) Lubricate rollers with light oil (c) Replace defective or corroded rollers, where required. 2) Chains and sprockets: (a) Clean and lubricate chains every 200 operating hours or in three-month intervals, whichever is sooner. (b) Check alignment of drive and driven sprockets and check tension on drive train every 200 operating hours or in three-month intervals, whichever is sooner. Adjust wherever required. 3) Belts: perform maintenance every three months (a) Inspect belt condition (b) Check for belt slippage on drive pulleys and for proper tracking (c) Clean, adjust, replace where required. 4) Feeders: (a) Inspect gravity feed mechanism every 1,200 operating hours or in six-month intervals, whichever is sooner (b) Inspect power feeder belts every six months. 5) Pulleys and Rollers: (a) Lubricate grease fittings every 2,400 operating hours or in nine-month intervals, whichever is sooner (b) Lubricate carrier rollers with unsealed bearings every 1,200 operating hours or in three-month intervals, whichever is sooner. 6) Worm gear reducers: (a) Change oil every 2,500 operating hours or in six-month intervals, whichever is sooner. (b) Grease all grease fittings every 1,000 operating hours or in three-month intervals, whichever is sooner. 7) Gear, motors and C-face reducers (a) Change oil every 1,500 operating hours or in six-month intervals, whichever is sooner (b) Lubricate bearings at time of each oil change 8) Speed reducers: (a) Perform visual inspections every six months and perform repairs as required. 9) Perform yearly safety preventative inspections in accordance with the German UVV regulation VBG 10. Contractor must record inspections with findings and required repairs in equipment inspection logbooks (Pr?fb?cher). b. Dock Levelers: 1) Inspect, adjust, and lubricate dock levelers every six months. Inspect support structure and all electrical components. 2) Perform a safety inspection in accordance with the German UVV regulation VBG 14 ? 39 every 12 months. Contractor must record inspections with findings/repairs in an equipment inspection logbook (Pr?fbuch). 4. RECURRING ADJUSTMENTS AND REPAIRS: All recurring adjustments and repairs shall be performed under the scope of this purchase order. 4.1. All inspections, tests, and maintenance performed under this Statement of Work shall be accomplished in accordance with the best commercial practices to operate the MMHS at its most efficient level. The MMHS shall not be changed or modified from its original size, design, and configuration without prior approval of the designated POC. 4.2. All parts and materials used to perform services under this contract shall be new, unused and of the same design and specification as the original. If major components (such as belts, pulleys, sprockets or rollers) are required to complete maintenance and the U.S. Government cannot provide the components, the contractor shall submit a cost estimate to the designated POC for approval. 4.3. All services covered in this contract shall be performed within regular duty hours from 07.00 hrs to 16.00 hrs, Monday through Friday, except German legal holidays. 4.4. All services covered in this contract shall be performed on or before the scheduled date of inspection not to exceed two weeks after the scheduled date. 4.5. The contractor shall record date of next inspection by either tagging or labeling components of the MMHS or by maintaining a maintenance schedule for all components; a copy shall be provided to the designated POC after completion of inspection.
