- This announcement is to notify all interested parties that the National Science Foundation (NSF) intends to procure, on a sole source basis, and in accordance with FAR parts 12 and 13, services to support an international contest titled, ?Scientific and Engineering Visualization Challenge?, intended to recognize outstanding achievement by scientists and engineers in the use of visual media to promote understanding of research results. The effort under this acquisition will have an anticipated period of performance from the date of contract award through 30 September 2007. The contractor will publicize, promote, and manage the competition, including 8 advertisements in Science magazine and Science online, as well as 6 editorial pages for a special edition of Science magazine in September 2007 announcing the competition winners. This synopsis is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, or as a request for competitive quotes. Oral communications and facsimile responses are not authorized. Interested parties may submit a Statement of Capability (SoC) in response to this announcement for consideration by the Agency. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. SoC?s may be submitted electronically to the NSF, with attention to Garett Nelson, Contract Specialist, Division of Acquisition and Cooperative Support, at gnelson@nsf.gov by 25 SEPTEMBER 2006. An acquisition ombudsman has been appointed to help resolve any offeror?s non-routine matters or concerns that may not have been sufficiently addressed by the Contracting Officer.
