- Description
- This is not a solicitation announcement for proposals. No contract will be awarded. This is a request for information only. The Social Security Administration (SSA) is conducting Market Research to ascertain if there are any commercial sources that can provide alternative means by which printed notices can be provided to the public. SSA currently generates printed notices in Advanced Format Presentation (AFP) file(s) that are formatted for printing with a 12-point font. SSA is looking to have AFP format file(s) converted to one or more of the following formats: 1) audio CD; 2) audio cassette; 3) Braille documents; 4) large print (18-20 point font) format or 5) 508-compliant text-based format. The majority of these notices contain tables with headers. As part of the conversion process, row and column headers must be identified, and data cells in a table must be associated with header cells. Therefore, SSA is seeking capability statements and estimated pricing from commercial sources for these services. SSA anticipates that there will be approximately 200,000 unique files per year that need transfer to one of these types of media. Each unique file may have a page count that varies from 2 to 60 pages with an average of 4 pages per file. Please provide a narrative of your capabilities to meet the following requirements: Transfer from 12-point AFP format to audio CD, audio cassette, Braille, large print or 508-compliant text-based; Provide standardized header information; Translation of tables; Turn around time-2 to 5 workdays; Mailing individual media using data contained within the AFP file; Vendor's quality assurance practices; Vendor's daily output capability; Please provide this information no later than 2:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, September 27, 2006 to Jacqueline Lessig via email at jacqueline.lessig@ssa.gov. Any estimated pricing information provided will not be considered to be confidential procurement information.
