Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking Offerors for the construction of a new Extended Care Building at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System, Des Moines, Iowa. This solicitation includes all Design-Build services including labor, tools and equipment necessary for the design and construction of a new extended care building of approximately 83,200 BGSF (including 7,386 SF of shelled space) containing 118 beds and outpatient services. The ECB is a three story building and partial basement and tunnel connector to the existing building 2. The site includes surface parking and relocated utilities. The building will be located on the northeast quadrant of the campus and connected to the existing medical center. Work includes, but is not limited to, the architectural and engineering design services to prepare complete and coordinated construction documents based on the documents contained in the Request for Proposal (design development drawings and performance specifications), and the construction services required for the installation of the new ECB including equipment, utility relocation, landscaping, grading, tying into an existing underground connecting utility tunnel and an underground pedestrian link, and certain other items. The existing Hospital is to be kept open for use by visitors, patients and Hospital staff during construction. Cost range is between $20,000,000 and $50,000,000. The NAICS code for this procurement is 236220 with a Small Business Size of $31M. Goals for the Subcontracting Plan are as follows: 23% SB, 5% SDB, 3% SDVOSB, 5% WOSB, 3% HUBZone and 7% VOSB.
