- The US Geological Survey, Water Resources Descipline has a requirement for the drydock and repair of the R/V POLARIS. The POLARIS is 97 feet by 20 feet, 114 ton wooden vessel built in 1927 and cannot be moved beyond the vicinity of the San Francisco Bay-Sacramento River Delta. Due to the age and construction of the vessel it must be put into a floating dry dock. The contractor is to provide all labor, tools, equipment, and materials to perform the repairs and modifications, including: Dry dock vessel according to docking plan supplied with the vessel; Hull painting--apply spot coating to bare and chafed areas and apply one full coat of Ameron ABC#3 or equivalent from waterline to keel; Reef and recaulk; Repair damage from marine borers; Re-spike hull planking; Remove, clean and flush all keel coolers; Remove and replace 2" sea water suction valve in after engine room; Remove and replace 2" valve in forward engine room; Remove and replace 1" valve in port foc'sle; Repack the stern tube stuffing box with TEFLON type packing of suitable size, kind, and number of rings, and various optional items as required, pending availability of funds. The contractor must provide 440 volt, 3 phase AC power to the vessel while in the shipyard or on the dry dock. Period of Performance: November 06, 2006 through December 01, 2006. The Request for Quote (RFQ) 07WRQQ0001will be posted on or about 10/02/2006. Once issued, the RFQ may be viewed on the Department of the Interior Business Opportunities Web Page at http://ideasec.nbc.gov. Quote response date: 10/30/2006. Anticipated award date 11/03/2006. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which shall be considered by the Agency. Vendors are encouraged to notify the Contracting Officer of their interest in this acquisition. The Contracting Officer may be contacted via email vfriesner@usgs.gov. All contractors doing business with the Federal Government must be registered in the "Central Contractor Registration (CCR).
