Description
The purpose of this Sources Sought/Market Research Notice is to identify potential sources capable of designing/producing indoor range equipment consisting of targetry, baffle plates, dry backstops and auger type bullet collection systems. The equipm ent will be installed in a facility that will allow firing at elevations from zero to 20 feet above the floor at a range of 50 meters from the targets while linearly tapering toward the target line. Bullet traps shall include an auger or similar system to pass all rounds into a single container. Building height at the target line is not yet defined. Backstop should still allow firing as close as 7 meters from the target line. Range shall accommodate firing up to 50 caliber ball ammunition. Accommodatio n of armor piercing rounds is not required. Baffles will allow targetry consisting of stationary infantry targets that expose and conceal (rotation around a vertical axis allowed) and moving infantry targets that also move across the 30 meter width of the facility at various speeds. Target control shall be from a booth located at the rear of the facility utilizing installed cabling. Control device shall allow touch screen operation of the targetry devices and allow independent control of up to 14 station ary and 2 moving targets and timed exposure. Ability to pre-program scenarios and score hits on infantry targets is desirable. Fixed 'Iron Maiden' type targets are also required. Department of Air Force, Engineering Technical Letter (ETL) 05-5 (Change 1): Small Arms Range Design and Construction and Military Handbook (MIL-HDBK) 1027/3B provide reference information that may used as a guide. Firms capable of providing the above services/equipment can indicate their interest by providing the Government a brief summary of their company capabilities/history providing this type of services/equipment. This is a sources sought for planning purposes and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government.
