Description

The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials and equipment to replace the failing 6' x 18' CMP culvert at Glen Trail culvert with a 8' x 40' wooden girder-style bridge that will support a minimum of 10,000 lbs. The bridge shall have glulam deck panels and rails of Douglas Fir, completely pressure treated after fabrication with 0.3 Type C Penta per AWPA specifications. Glen Trail is located within Point Reyes National Seashore in Marin County, CA. The trail was severely impacted by heavy rains in January 2006 and its culvert failed. Erosion has accelerated and become a significant impact to the fishery habitat that is located directly under the trail. There is no possible reroute for this trail which accesses one of the main campgrounds within the Seashore. This project will re-establish the creek drainage system and will reduce sediment deposition in the creek while providing trail access to heavy pedestrian and equestrian traffic. The work is expected to start in late September-early October 2006 and shall be completed within 45 days after receipt of a Notice to Proceed. The estimated project range is between $25,000-$100,000.
