Description
This is a SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS for information regarding alternative non-skid technologies. No proposals are being or accepted with this synopsis?this does not preclude the Government from considering procurement of materials, equipment, or services as a result of the information provided in response to this request. The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) seeks participation and information from private industry, academia, and government entities concerning alternative technologies to replace current coating systems for non-skid applications on U.S. Navy Ships?these applications include, for example, aviation decks, weather decks, and interior decks. Alternative technologies sought must be capable of providing durability that meets or exceeds current requirements for a Type V, Composition G or L as defined in MIL-PRF-24667B, which is available at the following web location: http://portal.nstcenter.com/default.aspx?RootFolder=%2fDocument%20Library%2fMilitary%20Specifications%2f24667&View=%7bFB35FA95%2d6E67%2d4E1F%2d9184%2dAE73C35B0508%7d). The alternative non-skid material, for certain applications, should also comply with Type IX requirements for heat resistance. Current heat requirements are 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 90 minutes; this temperature limit is anticipated to increase, between 600 to 700 degrees Fahrenheit, to accommodate the next generation of aircraft. Based on information provided, the Government may request to perform limited testing at a Government laboratory as a pre-screening to determine if further consideration and evaluation are desired. Mail, fax or email your responses, NLT 30 November 2006, to Mr. Michael Evans, NAVSEA 05M1, ATTN: Alternation Non-skid Program, 1333 Isaac Hull Avenue SE, STOP 5131, Washington, DC 20376-5131.
