- Description
- The Product Manger, Joint Automatic Identification Technology (PM J-AIT) solicits descriptions of use cases involving the reading of low contrast (below 30 percent) and direct Error Correction Code 200 (ECC-200) data matrix markings and seeks inform ation on readers capable of reading those marks. Direct and low contrast data matrix marks are produced by a variety of processes on items of various materials and shapes and are subject to degradation over time due to exposure to the environment and norm al wear and tear. Such marks present varied levels of technical difficulty in reading and decoding. The PM J-AIT seeks from industry descriptions of use cases involving low contrast and direct data matrix markings encountered in industry facilities that constitute use cases that Department of Defense (DoD) customers might encounter. A combination of a m ark and a reading environment constitutes a use case The PM J-AIT also seeks vendors of area imagers capable of reading low contrast and directly marked ECC-200 data matrix symbols who are interested in demonstrating their products on a variety of use cases involving low contrast and direct data matrix marks . The PM J-AIT will host structured demonstrations of commercial area imaging devices. Use cases will be replicated at the PM J-AIT facility in Tobyhanna, PA, and equipment vendors will conduct demonstrations under controlled conditions. Such demonstrations are tentatively planned for the mid-November through mid-December 2006 timeframe. T he results of the demonstrations will be disseminated within the DoD. The objective is to assist DoD organizations in identifying commercially available equipment capable of meeting their specific imaging needs. NOTE: Be advised that the Government will not reimburse vendors for any incurred costs associated with the demonstrations.
