- Description
- The Army Contracting Agency is seeking information from potential sources regarding a modular FIPS 140-2 AES encryption solution for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) radio with a roadmap to Type 1 encryption. FUNCTIONAL CAPABILITIES REQUIRED: The device shall be capable of being used in-line with a microphone/headset/handset and adaptable to several models of COTS radios through the use of adapters. Radios anticipated for use include but not limited to Motorola, Yaesu, Kenwood, and ICOM. The d evice shall be powered by commercially available batteries (AAA, AA, or BR123). The device shall be no larger than an M16 magazine, smaller is preferable. The device shall not significantly reduce the range of the radio (no more than a 25% reduction) in comparison to a radio without the adapter. The device must be dust and water-resistant. Device must be able to operate in varied temperature ranges (0 F degree to 150 F). Device must be capable of interfacing with common COMSEC loading devices (i.e. KYK- 13, KYK-15, KOI-18, CYZ-10, Simple Key Loader, etc&) for Type 1 encryption and user programmable for FIPS-140-2 algorithms. Vendors responding to this RFI should provide detailed information on their capabilities and experience to: Mr. Geoffrey Hermanstorfer, 2286 Morrison St. Ft. Meade, MD 20755. Interested vendors need to provide, at a minimum, the following information: Ph ysical address; company POC; phone and fax number; e-mail address; device description to include weight, size, power, and performance capabilities; data format (s); available timeframe and a description of current or past efforts in encryption devices. Re spondents must clarify if their organization can provide commercial or non-developmental/prototype items that could be modified to meet the requirements. Written responses are to be limited to five pages in addition to any pre-printed brochures. Responses may be submitted any time on or before 16 November 2006, 1600 EST. All proprietary portions of the submitted responses must be clearly identified. Proprietary information also MUST be marked as such, on a page-by-page basis. Information submitted via co urier service must reference synopsis number W9124Q07RENCRYPT on both the mailing envelope as well as on all enclosed documents. Information submitted via e-mail must reference the solicitation number in the subject line as well as in any attachments.
