Description
FedBizOpps notice Date: 16 October 2006 Title: Non-lethal Kinetic Impact System Description: The U.S. Army, Armament Research, Development, Engineering Center, NL/Scaleable Effects Branch, Picatinny, NJ is seeking sources for a Commercial- Off-The-Shelf (COTS) or near-production prototype non-lethal system utilizing kinetic impact energy as the primary effect. The system would be readily deployable and will impact a targeted individual with high accuracy at a range of 50 meters. It must be able to hit a human-sized target that has a height of 60 inches and a width of 19.5 inches at a 50 meter range in 80% of engagements. The system shall be able to impact a group of individuals at a range of up to 100 meters for 80% of engagements. A group of individuals (3 human-sized targets) shall consist of three 60??? X 19.5??? targets standing side- to-side (i.e. shoulder-to-shoulder) at a range of 100 meters. The system must be semi-automatic and rapid-fire (be able to fire 5 shots within 2 seconds), and have multiple shot capability (at least a 10-shot magazine). The system should have a demonstrable effectiveness to deter focused, motivated aggressors as well as demonstrable operational utility. Documented performance and safety parameters are required to support the Government???s pre- acquisition decision process. Interested sources are requested to provide a materiel solution capability statement, including company name, address, telephone number, technical point of contact, item nomenclature, item description and performance characteristics, applicable brochure/literature, and cost, availability, and maturity level of the weapons system, associated munition configurations, and any support equipment. All responding sources must submit their responses no later than October 31, 2006 to U.S. Army TACOM-Picatinny, Attn: AMSTA-AQ-APA, Stephanie Resch, Contract Specialist, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806.
