Description
THIS IS ONLY THE ADVANCED NOTICE. THE SOLICITAION WILL BE POSTED AFTER NOVEMBER 1, 2006 FOR THE WORK DESCRIBED IN THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. 1-1 Purpose The National Park Service (NPS) seeks to re-roof the low slope roof on the Lynch & Kennedy Building's east elevation in the Klondike National Historical Park. The National Park Service will provide rehabilitation drawings of the building which contain the original construction documents for this particular roof. The licensed and bonded contractor will be responsible for the removal and disposal of the existing roof and associated elements and the construction of the new roof including all labor and materials. The contractor shall provide the necessary submittals for review and approval by the NPS. 1-2 Background The Lynch & Kennedy Building was restored in 1991. The low slope roof covers a non-historic portion of the building which adjoins the L & K with the historic Pack Train building. The existing roof has a slope of ?":12 which has failed at the eave and has caused deterioration to the exterior walls and interior spaces below. The failure may be attributed in part to the quantity of the Pack Train's roof runoff which has drained directly onto the low slope roof for 15 years. The NPS has been given permission to install and maintain a 5" gutter on the Pack Train's south elevation. The gutter work will be accomplished by the NPS and will not be included in this contract. Part II: Site Analysis/Design Programming 2-1 Orientation ***SITE VISIT WILL BE SCHEDULED AND ANNOUNCED WHEN THE SOLICITATION IS POSTED AFTER NOVEMBER 1, 2006.*** A general orientation to the project is necessary to become familiar with the existing NPS facilities and design requirements. Following the site orientation, it is anticipated that the contractor will have all the necessary information to adequately bid the project and/or recommend any design alternatives. Specifically, this phase includes: A. Review of government furnished material to develop an understanding of the project history and proposed development actions. B. On-site inspection of the existing conditions to become familiar with the existing NPS facilities and operations. C. Discussion of materials to be used, anticipated challenges or possible changes to the Scope of Work due to unforeseen conditions. ALL VENDORS WISHING TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS SOLICITATION MUST BE REGISTERED IN THE CENTRAL CONTRACTOR REGISTRATION (CCR) DATABASE PRIOR TO AN AWARD BEING MADE.
