Description
PROPOSALS ARE DUE ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2006. Through this solicitation, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is seeking to establish and support several multi-disciplinary teams of biochemists and immunologists focused on the discovery of novel allergens and/or T cell epitopes that are recognized by different T cell subsets. This solicitation will support two distinct areas of research. a) Research Area 1: Identification Validation, and Characterization of Novel Allergens ? research projects to use established or innovative isolation and purification techniques to identify novel allergens from various sources. b) Research Area 2: Identification and Validation of Allergen-Specific T Cell Epitopes ? research projects to identify and characterize peptides containing T cell epitopes that activate allergen-specific effector T cells, and/or activate allergen-specific regulatory T cells. This resource reagent development initiative is an important component of the mission of the NIAID Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Transplantation (DAIT), which is to promote the study of allergic diseases, define the mechanisms that underlie these diseases, and ultimately develop therapies for the treatment of these diseases. Pre-Solicitation Notice Information: 1 Solicitation (BAA) is anticipated 0 Request for Quotation (RFQ) anticipated Duration of contract: five (5) years If options will be included, describe options __N/A_____________________________ Anticipated award date: July 27, 2007 All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the agency.
