- Description
- The Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) program office is making available an Airworthiness/Flight Clearance course to potential offerors. The class will be taught by NAVAIR airworthiness and flight clearance subject matter experts. The instruction will provide attendees with a working knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of the NAVAIR Airworthiness process. The course will explain the three types of flight clearances, the instructions that govern the flight clearance process, when flight clearances are needed and how to use the process efficiently. The course is being offered to give potential BAMS UAS contractors background, insight, and knowledge into this program requirement and is specifically tailored to UASs. The material is geared toward systems engineers, flight test engineers and engineering subject matter experts. The Airworthiness/Flight Clearance course will be held on Monday 20 November 2006, from 0800-1530 at the Frank Knox Education Center, Auditorium (Room 120), adjacent to NAS Patuxent River, Maryland. The Knox building is located immediately south of Gate 2 to the Patuxent River naval base, on the northbound side of Maryland Route 235. BAMS UAS will provide a persistent maritime Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) data collection and dissemination capability to the fleet. The BAMS UAS will deliver capability enabling the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Force (MPRF) to meet the Navy's maritime ISR requirements. BAMS UAS full operational capability will provide for up to five simultaneous orbits worldwide. Initial Operational Capability (IOC) for the BAMS UAS is defined as one base unit with sufficient assets, technical data, training systems, and enough spares and support equipment to operationally support one persistent ISR orbit and is planned for FY14. At IOC, the BAMS UAS missions will include, but are not limited to, maritime surveillance, collection of enemy order of battle information, battle damage assessment, port surveillance, communication relay, and support of the following missions - maritime interdiction, surface warfare, battlespace management, and targeting for maritime and littoral strike missions. Interested parties need to contact Ms. Clare Carmack via email: clare.carmack@navy.mil with a copy to Mr. Thomas Kennedy email: thomas.kennedy@navy.mil to schedule attendance. Your request must include a point of contact and a telephone number. A picture ID will be required to gain entrance to the Knox Building. Pre-registration is required and walk-in attendance will not be accepted. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. THIS SPECIAL NOTICE IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT, NOR WILL THE GOVERNMENT PAY FOR ANY INFORMATION SOLICITED OR PROVIDED. Questions or comments may be addressed to Ms. Clare Carmack at (301) 757-5919, email clare.carmack@navy.mil and Mr. Michael McLoughlin at (301) 757-5898, email michael.mcloughlin@navy.mil.
