Description

GENERAL PROCEDURES: The VA Network Logistics Office, West Los Angeles Healthcare Center, intents to issue a Sole Source award to The National Research Council/National Academy of Sciences, Washington, DC. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedure using Other Than Full and Open Competition (FAR 6.302-1). A solicitation will not be issued. The associated NAICS code is 541690. The contractor, Institute of Medicine (IOM), will provide expertise and advice to the nation and conduct special studies for the Federal Government. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) is a component of the National Academy of Sciences, a private non-for-profit institution chartered by the U.S. Congress to provide this study. The relationship of the Academy to the Government is further manifested by Executive Orders 2859 and 10668. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quote; however, any firm that believes that it can meet the specification above may give a written notification to the contracting officer. Responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement base upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The Government anticipates an award on or about November 1, 2006.
