Description
In accordance with FAR 10.001(a)(2) the Social Security Administration (SSA) is conducting market research before developing requirements for possible acquisition of two (2) Anue Systems Inc. network emulators, associated hardware interfaces and software to meet SSA's disaster recovery needs. This is a Sources Sought announcement, a market survey for electronic/written information. This is not a solicitation announcement for proposals. No contract will be awarded. This is a request for information only.
SSA will pursue acquiring Anue network emulator products to allow the Agency to simulate the delays and impairments that occur over live production synchronous optical networking (SONET), synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH), optical transport network (OTN) and other networks. SSA will use these products to validate and evaluate new hardware or software products and technologies under real world conditions in a controlled lab environment. The primary applications for the emulator include validation of signal fail and degrade alarm threshold algorithms, facilitating automatic protection switch testing under the presence of persistent bit errors, loss of signal, validation of disaster recovery and storage extension solutions, real world interoperability, and proof of concept testing.
SSA intends to deploy Anue CKL-2U Rack mountable chassis with uni- or bi-directional emulation, along with Anue H10 Network Emulator Hardware blades, and 850-nanometer and 1310-nanometer optics to provide OC-192/STM-64, OC-48/STM-16, OC-3/12 / STM-1/4, 1 Gig and 10 Gig ethernet signal delay emulations. The Agency intends to run Anue signal delay software for OC-192, OC-48, OC-12, OC-3, 1 Gig and 10 Gig in uni-directional and bi-directional testing.
Any firm that feels they have the capability of providing an equivalent product must respond, in writing, within 15 days of this notice. Responses must be specific as to the alternate product proposed and must include detailed specifications to support claims of equivalency to Anue hardware and software detailed in this synopsis.
Vendors that believe they can offer a technically compliant product should submit information concerning their product?s capabilities. Detailed responses to each of the above requirements (with substantiating documentation) are required. SSA will not consider simple marketing information or incomplete responses. SSA will not consider reference to vendor web sites as a valid response. Vendors may submit pricing data. Respondents should indicate whether their software is available on GSA Federal Supply Schedules or any other Government-wide Agency Contract (GWAC).
Vendor?s shall submit responses electronically and be received by November 23, 2006. SSA will not accept faxed information. The size limitation for email attachments is 10 megabytes. MS Word is the Agency's standard word processing software.
SSA IS NOT ISSUING A FORMAL SOLICITATION AT THIS TIME, and the Government does not intend to pay for the information submitted. SSA will use this information in the assessment of capable sources. SSA will not notify respondents of any evaluated results from the data received. Any questions should be submitted via EMAIL ONLY (no phone calls please) to the Contract Specialist at: faith.goodacre@ssa.gov
Responses should refer to Solicitation Number: FRG110806
