- Construction activities for expansion of the Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) Room (also referred to the Instrument Flight Rule (IFR) room) at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston, Texas. The construction limits are within the interior of the existing building and approximately 1500 square feet. The project includes, but not limited to the following: a. Limited demolition of concrete masonry unit partitions, concrete deck, gypsum wallboard, drop down ceilings, millwork, doors, lighting, electrical panel, electrical conduit and conductors. b. Installation of: temporary dust/acoustical partitions, gypsum wallboard and metal stud partitions, limited computer flooring, drop down ceilings, vinyl tile flooring, painting, doors, relocation of fire alarm sensors/appliances, limited installation of signal reference grid, electrical panel, lighting, conduits/conductors, installation of government furnished metal consoles, wiring of the metal consoles and minor ductwork. c. Due to the limits imposed by the operational facility a sequence of work is required to be strictly followed Night work is anticipated for some phases of the construction. This notice is for information purposes for Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, has programs to assist small businesses, small businesses owned and controlled by a socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and women-owned concerns to acquire capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enable firms to apply for bid, payment, and performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80 percent guarantee on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are also available under the DOT short term receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $750,000.
