- Description
- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Great Lakes Region has a requirement to do waterproofing and general construction work at the Airport Traffic Control Tower (ATCT), Gerald R Ford International Airport, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Work includes, but not limited to for PHASE I: 1. Remove all roof materials (including roof top A/C and replace with new A/C unit after roofing membrane is in place) down to structure and replace with mechanically attached roof membrane. All work to be done between midnight and 5am or as directed by the facility. 2. Remove and replace existing CAB suspended ceiling with new flat black suspended acoustical ceiling. All work to be done between midnight and 5am or as directed by the facility. 3. Remove all caulk from the exterior EFIS system and replace with new exterior caulk. 4. Remove and replace exterior caulk from around all windows. The caulk joint around the windows has been identified as asbestos containing material and must be handled in accordance with FAA, EPA and OSHA requirements. 5. Scrape all railings on the CAB roof, CAB level and 8th floor. 6. At CAB and 8th floor level weld a top rail to meet OSHA minimum 42" height requirements and add mid-rail then paint all. 7. Weld additional flat bar on safety cage for 8th floor roof access ladder and the paint to match existing safety cage. 8. Furnish and install new intake fan for 8th floor NATCA office smoking room. Duration of project is sixty (60) days. The work will be performed in strict accordance with the specifications and contract provisions under the subject contract. Award of a firm-fixed-price contract is being contemplated to a responsible offeror who submits the responsive offer for this requirement. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, payment, and performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract.
