Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a requirement to purchase the services of the University of Wisconsin-Madison c/o Dr. Reginald Bruskewitz, Bursars Office, 750 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53706, for the chairman of the steering committee of the minimally invasive surgical therapy (MIST) trail. The duties of the chairperson of the MIST CT steering committee will: Convene and participate in conference calls of the MIST CT executive committee at least once a month or more frequently if needed; Convene and run a meeting of the CT steering committee approximately every 4 months. Each meeting will last for 1.5 days; Review recruitment data and discuss recruitment and retention strategies with NIDDK program officers; Review the proceeding and recommendations from all the subcommittees and discuss further plans with subcommittee chairpersons and NIDDK program officers; Act as spokesperson for the MIST CT at major national and international meetings. He is expected to frequently represent and discuss the conduct of the trail with community and professional organizations, NIDDK staff and directors and if indicated, the press; Represent the MIST CT steering committee at the meetings and conference calls of the Data Safety Monitoring Board. One in person meeting and two or three conference calls are expected during the coming year. This will be BASE plus 4 year option. Dr. Bruskewitz is an international recognized expert in the field of Male urology, specifically focusing o the diagnosis and innovative treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). He has served as a member of the DSMB for the NIDDK funded landmark study on the treatment of BPH?the MTOPS study. He has served on the guideline panel for the treatment of BPH of the American Urological Association. He has published over 75 original articles related to male urological health and treatment of BPH. Because of this exceptional background and knowledge of the current status of MIST therapy for BPH, Dr. Bruskewitz?s service to the KUH is essential for this program. This procurement will be under Part 13 of the FAR. Interested vendors may identify in writing their interest with a capability statement to the Contracting Office prior to the closing date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however, all responses received, before the closing date of this announcement, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. It is anticipated that the Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-07-114 will be available fifteen (15) days after the release of the RFQ. Receipt of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated award date is December 28, 2006.
