- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) have a requirement to purchase the services of Dr. Russell Chesney, Professor and Chair of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, Tennessee, / Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, to serve as Chairperson of the Steering Committee of the Vesicoureteral Reflux (RIVUR) Clinical Study. The performance duties of the chairperson of the Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR) Clinical Study Steering Committee are: Convene conference calls of the RIVUR Clinical Study Executive Committee once per month. Each call is expected to last for an hour; Convene and run a meeting of the Steering Committee approximately every 4-6 months. Each meeting will last for a day and a half; Review recruitment data and discuss recruitment and retention strategies with the Program Office; Review the proceeding and recommendations from all the subcommittees and discuss further plans with subcommittee chairpersons and Program Office; Act as spokesperson for the RIVUR Clinical Study at major national and international meetings and will frequently be called upon to represent and discuss the conduct of the trial by the press and other community organizations ; Represent the RIVUR Clinical Study Steering Committee at the meetings and conference calls of the Data Safety and Monitoring Board (DSMB). One face-to-face meeting and two to three conference calls of the DSMB are expected during the coming year. This will be BASE plus 3 year option. Dr. Russell Chesney is an internationally known expert in the field of pediatric nephrology. Dr. Chesney is a past president of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology (1999). He is currently on the board of directors of the American Board of Pediatrics. He serves on the editorial board of the journal, Pediatric Nephrology, and was previously the associate editor. He is also a contributing section editor for nephrology in the American Academy of Pediatric Grand Rounds and served as a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Pediatrics. Because of his exceptional background and knowledge of the current status of the VUR Clinical Study, Dr. Chesney's service to KUH is essential for this program. This procurement will be under Part 13 of the FAR. Interested vendors may identify in writing their interest with a capability statement to the Contracting Office prior to the closing date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received, before the closing date of this announcement, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. It is anticipated that the Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-07-115 will be available fifteen (15) days after the release of the RFQ. Receipt of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated award date is December 28, 2006.
