- Install a Mass Notification System in approximately 180 dormitory rooms located in buildings 1422 and 1425 on Aviano Air Base's Flightline Area. The Notification system can be hard-wired or wireless and must not interferewith existing fire alarm system of wireless communication networks. If hard-wired into existing fire alarm system, the notification system must provide an audible tone noticeably different than the existing fire alarm system. The notification system must be capable of simultaneously activating in all dormitory rooms with the turn of a key or push of a button from a remote location. The notification system audible tone must be continuous until deactivated from the remote location. This is only a Request For Information . This project is contingent upon availibility of funds. For additional questions or information please contact Paul Pullins at 0434-30-7988 or paul.pullins@aviano.af.mil **Below are the questions and answers from the Site Visit on November 15th 2006 at Aviano AB. We are requesting estimates to install the Mass Notification System by 13 December 2006. You will not be held to the estimates in anyway. This project has not been funded yet. Estimates will speed up the funding process greatly. If/When funding is received a formal solicitation will be issued. MASS NOTIFICATION SYSTEM QUESTIONS FROM SITE VISIT ON 15 NOV 06 1. Should equipment for two (2) Control Centers be included in quotation? A: Yes 2. Are there any requirements as to the SPL (Sound Pressure Level) the speakers should generate? A: No, but the audible tone/message must be loud enough to wake a sleeping person. 3. Shall all floors in both buildings have the same tone/message at the same time or are there any requirements that the operator should be able to e.g. select one floor in one of the buildings only for a specific tone/message? A: All floors in both buildings should have the same tone/message. 4. Are there at present any free telephone lines between the Control Center(s) and the two buildings? A: There are sufficient free copper wires available. 5. Will the Base be able to acquire a frequency license for UHF or VHF transmission? A: Maybe, I need to know what frequency range is being requested before a definitive answer can be given. 6. Are there any plans at present moment to expand the system to include more buildings in the future? A: No. 7. At first I want know the approximately distance from dormitory rooms located in buildings 1422 and 1425 until to remote location? A: The driving distance from the buildings 1422/1425 to building 1170 (the control center we visited) is two miles. The driving distance from buildings 1422/1425 to building 1280 (the alternate control center that we didn?t visit) is .7 of a mile. 8. Second, if the notification system must be capable all dormitory rooms (dedicated speakers in every rooms) or if is enough an outdoor power speaker system located in front of the buildings? A: The system must have dedicated speakers in each room.
