Description
This is a Request for Information (RFI) from the U. S. Army Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center, MA, to identify sources interested in providing technical information on methods to develop a low-cost in-aircraft GPS re-transmis sion system. The desired capabilities of the GPS re-transmission system are as follows: (1) provide a usable GPS signal to the entire cargo bay and flight deck of the aircraft (aircraft sizes ranging from that of a helicopter to as large as a C-17); typic al aircraft include MC-130, C-130 E and H models, USMC C-130J, and C-17, (2) ability to draw GPS signal from the existing aircraft mid-course receiver (AE-1 or GAS-1) GPS antenna extenders, (3) have an option to draw the signal from a windshield mounted GP S antenna (included in the kit), (4) have the ability to be battery powered (for use as a stand-alone system in a smaller aircraft) or use aircraft 28V power supply, (5) have a signal amplifier with automatic gain control to accommodate the variable signal strengths typically seen (9dB  45dB) on aircraft, (6) amplifier rack-mountable in a standard avionics rack. Proprietary information will not be disclosed outside of the U.S. Government. All interested firms, regardless of size, are encouraged to respon d to this request for information. This Request for Information is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this request or otherwise pay for information solicited. A pre-solicitation notice will be published if a formal solicitation is generated. No awards will result from this request. We are seeking sources, technical and product information for products which meet the DoD requirements, or may meet requirements with modifications. Firms responding to this RFI shall bear all risk and expense of any resources used to provide the requested information, and all information submitted in response to th is request shall become the property of the Government and will not be returned to the submitter.
