- NASA/KSC has a requirement for [DIMA 30-ton Injection Molding Machine, 1 ea., is required for the Polymer Science & Technology Lab. The machine must be at a laboratory scale which can fit in approximatelu 9-10 ft x 5 ft laboratory space for possible transfer and installation in other locations. The injection molder must supply a minimum of 30 tons of pressure, 1.3 oz. shot sizem and 10" btie bar spacing for desire part molding. The apparatus must be new and provide a minimum of 2 years parts and labor warranty. Universal interchange of parts, such as Bosch, and a universally used controller system MACO 4000 Controller are necessary to reduce costs in the out years. NASA/KSC intends to purchase the items from Midwest Polymer Machinery, Inc., P. O. Box 909, Hampshire, IL 60140, as the only vendor known to distribute the product. IF PROCUREMENT IS FOR COMMERCIAL ITEM(S), INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT] The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on December 21, 2006. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
