Description

The Department of the Interior (DOI) is required to meet the court ordered compliance with regards to e-mail retention and retrieval. This requirement is to address the need within the DOI to satisfy the court's demand to provide evidence that the agency is moving forward and in compliance with the court's order to secure a reliable method for e-mail archival and retrieval. The DOI must provide assurance and evidence that future e-mails and their attachments will be reliably, consistently and automatically captured, archived and retained in a safe, secured and entrusted environment. The DOI is to demonstrate to the court that the agency can find a solution that is capable of archiving all e-mails within and across the designated bureaus; provide access to any e-mail in question, or demanded by the court; maintain all historical records indefinitely; ensure the integrity of the documents; provide oversight into the process assuring compliance; demonstrate the ability to retrieve the documents in a timely manner; implement a sound agency wide solution immediately. ZANTAZ captures archives and restore e-mail messages for the DOI. ZANTAZ reported having trouble retrieving data from 268 of 280 Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) tapes. The purpose of this Statement of Work (SOW) is to investigate how these tapes became blank and why these tapes are blank. Three of these blank tapes will be used in this investigation. We are also requesting a review of standard operating policies and procedures used by BIA, which may prevent the creating and shipping of blank tapes in the future.
