Description
Brookhaven Science Associates plans to acquire an Electron Beam Thin Film Evaporation System for the Nanopatterning Laboratory of the Center for Functional Nanomaterials at BNL. This equipment requirement is for a system to melt metals in vacuum, evaporate, and deposit them onto a substrate using a controlled electron beam. The evaporation rate must be monitored (or controlled) using deposition rate monitor(s). Equipment Criteria: The following factors, in their relative order of weighting, will be utilized to evaluate the offers: General Technical Specifications: Submit operating specifications for the proposed Electron Beam Thin Film Evaporation System utilizing the same format (Section and Sub-Section numbering) presented by the specifications contained in the solicitation. Vendors must supply detailed descriptions and dimensioned layout drawings of the Electron Beam Thin Film Evaporation System, the materials used in its construction, failure rate data and, where applicable, manufacturer?s specifications of subsystems such as vacuum pumps, controllers, etc. The vendors proposed system will be evaluated for operational reliability, quality of construction, and cost. Instrument performance will be evaluated based upon its ability to meet, or exceed the listed criteria. Vendors must provide a reasonable amount of detail concerning operational capabilities and performance levels. . BNL will submit its samples to the vendor?s application laboratory and evaluate the results with its own equipment Performance Risk: Submit references, points of contact and telephone numbers for all installations of VT SPM or similar systems for the last 3 years. Proposals are due January 12, 2007, by 4:00 PM, EDT, and shall be submitted to Brookhaven Science Associates, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Attention: D. Paveglio, Bldg. 355, Upton, NY 11973, by US mail This RFP has been sent to the following known manufacturers: AJA International Oxford Instrument KJL (Lesker) Thermionics NW (TLI) All other interested vendors may down load Request for Proposal ASC107712 from this website or contact David J.
