Description
Request for Information Power Source Systems Roadmapping This Request for Information (RFI) is the initiation of market research under Part 10 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and is not a Request for Proposals (RFP). The Government does not intend to pay for any information furnished pursuant to thi s RFI. The DoD Power Sources Technology Working Group (PSTWG) and the Joint Defense Manufacturing Technology Panel (JDMTP), is sponsoring a workshop dedicated to the silver zinc primary, reserve and secondary battery technology as they apply to DoD applications. Participation is open to representative from U.S. industry, academic organizations, and other government agencies regarding silver oxide zinc batteries. Potential areas of discussion during the workshop include: 1. Users (government and prime contractor) requirements for silver zinc batteries as they apply to supporting existing weapon system platforms. 2. Potential applications for this technology in weapon systems under development. 3. Challenges (technical, manufacturing, cost) to increasing the wider use of silver zinc batteries in military application. 4. Status of the domestic production base and the impact of diminishing sources of supply. 5. Ongoing R&D efforts and future trends 6. Potential avenues for joint government/prime contractor/battery manufacturer efforts/partnering A 2-day workshop is scheduled for January 23 and 24, 2006 in the Washington DC area. Due to make this workshop as productive as possible, participation is by invitation only and will be limited to those individuals and organizations that are considered t o have the ability to provide useful input to the discussion areas. If the agenda permits, time will be allocated to one on one meetings between the government representatives and members of industry to allow for discussions on proprietary matters. Responses to this RFI that indicate that the information therein is proprietary or represents confidential business information will be received and held in confidence for U.S. Government use only. However, the DoD PSTWGs and the JDMTPs intent is to de velop a broadly shared strategic plan from the aggregate of the information provided from industry as a whole, and it is desired that all responses be nonproprietary.
