(1) P Presolicitation Notice (2) December 14 (3) 2006 (5) 80840-2315 (6) 66 (7) Operational Contracting Officer, 8110 Industrial Dri., USAF Academy, CO 80840-2315 (8) Environmental Growth Chamber (9) FA7000-07-R-0003 (10) December 18 ? January 18 (17). HQ USAFA/DFB (Department of Biology) has a requirement for an environmental growth chamber. The growth chamber will serve several functions for the Department of Biology. Field Ecology, Biology 481 will utilize this chamber. It is anticipated that from 6 to 12 students will be involved in small mammal or amphibian classroom investigation projects that would utilize the chamber for up to a month at at time. Additionally, as a classroom teaching tool, it will be used for Botany, Biology 331 to teach and reinforce many specific aspects of plant growth and development. It is anticipated that approximately 60 students per year will be involved in Botany class projects using the growth chamber. Plants will be placed in the chamber on the first day of class and growth will be monitored throughout the semester by the students. The chamber will also be used to support Cadet research programs in Biology 499. Annually four to six additional Cadets will use the chamber for mentored research projects. 1) Must fit the footprint of the existing chamber- to include external characteristics that are no larger than: 9? tall, 8? on one side, 10? on the other side ( the sides have a little latitude for items to stick out- like a handle or a switch. 2) The chamber must have a Chemical dryer (usually an accessory built into the chamber) 3) The chamber must also contain: a micro controller, humidifier, and HI- light giving at least 855 micromols with numerous fluorescent and incandescent bulbs/lamps (GC-72 has 75 lamps) 4) Must be able to adjust and control temp from at least 5 deg C to 40 deg C with audible alarms 5) must have a securely sealed door easily accessible and operable. 6) Desired growth area: 70 + square feet (GC-72 is 72?) 7) The door to the chamber must open in the opposite direction, that is, the door must be hinged on the left side. A 52.211-6 Brand Name or Equal acquisition will be conducted. The NAICS for this acquisition is 334512 and the size standard is 500 employees. Women owned and small disadvantaged businesses are encouraged to submit offers. This acquisition is set aside 100% for small business enterprises.
