Description

Sources Sought: The U.S. Army Natick Soldier RDEC has a need to identify commercially available socks for potential use as a replacement for the socks currently used as a dress sock and a sock liner. The socks will be evaluated for use in a potential future user test. NO SOLICITATION CURRENTLY EXISTS. The socks must be produced in the U.S of U.S. made fibers, but the Government is not mandating the type of fibers nor the weight of the socks. The only absolute requirements are: the socks shall meet or exceed the current requirements of the existing socks and be equal to or less in cost. Cost will be a determining factor. The socks should contain compression technology, have the capability for moisture management, and reduce/prevent odor and athletes fo ot. These properties shall last for a minimum of 50 launderings. Companies interested in having their socks evaluated for possible future use must submit 6 pair (for testing purposes), along with an information paper (specification sheet) describing the so cks, to include such things as sock name, place of manufacture, location of source of fibers, blend of fibers, pricing information (cost per pair), any in-house testing data that is available and any other information that the company feels appropriate.
