- The Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking potential sources of a General Contractor with a specialty in mechanical (HVAC) to provide construction services for the Coil Replacement Project of Buildings 1 through 4 at the National Animal Disease Center in Ames, Iowa. The magnitude of construction estimated price range is between $1,800,000 and $2,800,000. The NAICS code is 238220, with a size standard of $13 Million. PROJECT SUMMARY: The project includes the demolition and replacement of coils, piping, ductwork, associated controls, and other components in laboratory and animal housing facility HVAC systems. The work will be phased to accomplish the work in certain wings while other wings are occupied. The project will also include construction of a station to reduce chilled water supply pressures and boost chilled water return pressures. Interested firms are invited to respond to this announcement by providing the following information: a) geographical location(s) of major and satellite offices, b) business size (large or small) and type (8(a) concerns, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged business, woman-owned, or veterans), c) company literature/documentation supporting experience in work similar in type (HVAC?) and size of projects (in dollars), d) past performance references for similar work, identifying any HVAC experience, performed within the past five years, and e) information on available bonding capacity. NO SOLICITATION EXISTS AT THIS TIME. THIS REQUEST IS INTENDED ONLY TO IDENTIFY SOURCES OF SERVICES. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this sources sought announcement or to otherwise pay for the information requested. The deadline to respond to the notice is January 10, 2007. Requested information shall be limited to no more than 20 pages.
