Description
Installation preparation of the area for the new Vertical Heat Treat and Quench Facility. At the Watervliet Arsenal located in Watervliet, NY. Contractor will perform all work to Manufacturing Engineering Work Group Scope of Work# 24-07-J099 dated D ecember 13, 2006. This project includes modification to a Shrink Pit Grating: expanding two grating openings over the 40-5 pit area of the shrink pit, at elevations 0-0, -12-5 and -24-5, for a total of six openings. New Grating Support Steel: As indicated in drawing VHT-M-001 all grating support steel shall be replaced with new steel of the same size. All existing riveted steel connections can be flame cut. Demolition of the Existing Landing: The contractor shall be responsible for removing all steel connected with the existing landing including any structural steel that is not part of the pit structural support steel. Chiller Piping Installation: The contractor shall be responsible for installing both the supply and return chiller piping as sh own in drawing VHT-M-002 Rev. 1. The contractor shall be responsible for pressure testing the pipe for leaks upon completion of the installation. Pipe Material: The contractor shall use six (6) inch schedule 40 black carbon steel pipe. Pipe joints shall be butt-welded. Pipe Insulation: All pipes shall be insulated with two (2) inch thick fiberglass insulation with a PVC jacket. All pipes shall be insulated throughout there entire length and terminated six (6) inches from the end of a given pipe run. T he contractor shall be responsible for insuring that pipe insulation does not get crushed by pipe support hardware. New Heat Exchanger Platform/Landing: The contractor shall be required to construct a new platform at the -12-5 elevation along the west w all of the Shrink Pit in bldg. 135. The existing landing has another landing underneath it at the 24-5 elevation. Solicitation W911PT-07-Q-0075 will be posted on December 28, 2006 and will close January 11, 2007. A site visit is required prior to submis sion of a proposal. Anticipated award date is on or before January 18th. Telephonic requests for copies of the solicitation will not be accepted.
