Description
The Fleet & Industrial Supply Center Norfolk, Philadelphia Division, Contracting Department intends to acquire 1 each polarization maintaining fusion splicer for fiber a variety type of optic cables suggested brand Fitel model S183. It does not need to be a hand-held or portable unit, and a benchtop unit is preferable. 1 each tool kit for fusion splicer suggested brand Fitel model S424. 1 each fiber curl remover suggested brand Fitel model S533A. Delivery is F.O.B. destination Washington, DC 30 days after day of contract or sooner. Alternative brands must meet the following specifications: Must splice the following classes of fibers: Single mode polarization preserving, Single mode, Multi mode (both step and gradient index types), Dispersion shifted single mode fibers, Non-zero dispersion shifted fibers, Active doped fibers (for example Erbium Doped Fiber), Cutoff Shifted fibers. In addition, must splice between these types of fibers, in particular: Between types of PM fibers (for example PANDA, BOWTIE, and TIGER), Between single mode and doped fibers, Between PM and doped fibers, Between single mode and multi mode fibers, Between multimode fibers of different core/cladding diameters. For polarization maintaining splices: Maximum -32dB crosstalk for similar fibers, Maximum -40dB crosstalk for PANDA type fibers, Maximum -30dB crosstalk between PM fiber types, Maximum 0.05 dB loss for similar fibers, Maximum 0.15dB loss between PM fiber types. Other and general specs: Maximum 0.03dB loss for identical single mode fibers, Maximum 0.02dB loss for identical multi mode fibers, Maximum 0.05dB loss for identical dispersion shifted fibers, Maximum 60dB return loss, Ability to introduce controlled loss up to 2dB, Cladding diameters from 80-400 microns (larger preferable but not required), Coating diameters from 160-700 microns (larger preferable but not required), Display with two view of splice, User programmable splice parameters, Splice loss estimation. This notice of intent is a request for competitive quotations. This notice constitutes the request for quotation. No solicitation will be issued. A firm fixed price contact will be awarded as a result of this quotation. This requirement is in support of the U.S. Naval Observatory, Washington, DC. Award will be made in accordance with FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures for commercial items. Central Contractor Registration is required for all vendors doing business with DOD and can be obtained at www.ccr.gov.
