Description

The National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Biochemical Science Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Wyatt Technology Corporation, of Goleta, CA for an Autosampler 1200. Sole source determination is based on the following: The Autosampler 1200 will be used in conjunction with the existing Wyatt Technologies equipment that performs Asymmetric Flow Field Flow Fractionation (AF4) in combination with Multi-Angle Laser Light Scatter (MALLS) and Quasi-Elastic Light Scattering (QELS). Wyatt Technologies is the sole manufacturer and distributer of the required equipment. The Autosampler must be 100 percent compatible with and must integrate with the existing Wyatt equipment. All technology is proprietary to Wyatt Technologies. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, responses received by January 16, 2007 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
