Description
THE PURPOSE OF THIS SPECIAL NOTICE IS TO NOTIFY POTENTIAL PARTICIPANTS OF AN INDUSTRY DAY THAT IS SPONSORED BY THE U.S. MARINE CORPS. A CONTRACT WILL NOT BE AWARDED. The United States Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM), Infantry Weapons Systems, Quantico, Virginia is conducting a market survey to determine weapon system manufacturers? that can provide actual long range target engagement capability beyond 1000 meters. MARCORSYSCOM would like to identify the current availability of what industry is capable of producing and, equally, the limits of current technology. This study is not limited to any type classified round or caliber. The study will be structured so that industry representatives will have two days of exhibition time per qualifying system (POH of 80% or greater beyond 1000 meters.) Day one will consist of system instruction and vendor live fire demonstration. Instruction should be on weapons, optics, range finders, ballistic computers and programs, weather stations and/or what ever fire control equipment each particular vendor may have integrated into their system. Vendor live fire will consist of firing on both paper and steel targets at known and unknown distances utilizing any ancillary equipment. Day two will be for the government representatives to live fire each system utilizing any ancillary equipment. The Government will cover the cost of range rental. The range is Gunsite of Paulden, AZ. Each vendor will be responsible for their own lodging and for transportation of their designated personnel, weapons, equipment and ammunition to and from the range. Vendors are encouraged to bring whatever fire control equipment (i.e. laser range finders, ballistic computers, ballistic charts, weather stations, spotting scopes, etc.) they require. Team Lead for this project is Mr. Bill Norton of MARCORSYSCOM, point of contact (POC) for scheduling and questions will be Mr. Christopher Sharon @ (540) 288-7772, (703) 432-3229 or e-mail: christopher.sharon@usmc.mil As some vendors may require more or less time than others, each vendor should call with the amount of instructional and demo time they will require for scheduling purposes no later than 2 April 2007. SCHEDULING WILL BE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. After 2 April 2007, no additional scheduling will be made. If vendors need to ship weapons, equipment or ammo they need to arrange shipping with Gunsite. POC for Gunsite is Mr. Ed Head (928) 636-4565. Vendors will need the following equipment at a minimum. -Weapon and Optic -NO LESS than 375 rounds of ammunition -Fire control equipment (i.e. laser range finders, weather stations, ballistic computers, spotting scopes, etc.) -Vehicles to transport themselves and their equipment to and from the ranges. 4x4 recommended. There will be a closed range policy in effect. Only one vendor at a time will be allowed on site. There will be a non-disclosure statement for each individual to sign and adhere to. THE GOVERNMENT WISHES TO MAKE IT ABSOLUTELY CLEAR THAT THIS INDUSTRY DAY IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY AND THAT THE GOVERNMENT MAKES NO GUARANTEE OF CONTRACT AWARD BASED ON VENDOR PERFORMANCE.
