Description
The New England District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been tasked by the Department of Homeland Security to solicit for the construction four additions to the main building of the new Border Patrol Station (BPS) that it is currently being constr ucted on the northern Maine border in the Town of Van Buren, Maine. The Border Patrol Station is located at the former Drive-In Theater site in Van Buren on Route 1A. The work for this project encompasses the construction of a Garage, Vehicle Maintenance B ay, Sallyport and ASU onto the main building. The work includes furnishing of all labor, equipment and materials, to perform all work required for the construction of four building additions to the main Border Patrol Station at Van Buren building while co nstruction of the main building is ongoing by another contractor. Construction of the commercial building additions will be slab on grade, CMU walls with brick and stone fa?ade, asphalt roof shingles. The garage includes a wash bay, the vehicle maintenan ce bay includes a vehicle lift, the sallyport includes garage door ingress/egress, and the ASU addition includes office space and a garage to accommodate a single vehicle. Extensive coordination will be required between the two contractors. Construction fo r this project will begin during the late spring of 2007 and will continue throughout the winter of 2007/2008. Construction completion is scheduled for the spring of 2008, at which time occupancy by the Border Patrol is required. The remote location of t his proposed Border Patrol Station, the extreme winter weather conditions associated with the northern Maine climate, and the expedited occupancy requirements and construction completion requirements are of the utmost concerns that must be accounted for by prospective contractors. As stated, work will be required during the winter of 2007/2008 in order to meet the schedule. The Corps of Engineers will be performing construction management services for this contract. The estimated cost range for this proj ect is between $1M to $5M. The NAICS code for this Procurement is 236220, with a Size Standard of $28.5 million. This solicitation is issued on an unrestricted basis. The estimated issue date for this procurement is on or about February 2, 2007. A Pre- Bid Conference will also be held on February 13, 2007 at the Van Buren Border Patrol Station. Additional information will be made available in the solicitation documents once issued. Prospective contractors and subcontractors are required to self-regist er their firm or office on the Internet to receive the solicitation. Amendments, if any, to this sol icitation will be made available at the https://www.fedteds.gov Internet site. Neither telephonic, mailed nor fax requests will be accepted.
