Description
PRE-SOLICITATION SYNOPSIS: VISITING QUARTERS (VQ) & TEMPORARY LODGING FACILITY (TLF), ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, MARYLAND (DESIGN-BID-BUILD ACQUISITION) The Naval Facilities Engineering Command Washington intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) to award a firm-fixed price contract for construction of facilities to accommodate transient personnel and families at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. (Plans and specifications have been prepared by the Government). The Visiting Quarters (VQ) portion will include replacing existing TLF?s with a new four-story Visiting Quarters facility with 265 guest rooms. The facility will be constructed of masonry wall and steel frame, reinforced concrete foundation and floor slab, brick veneer facing, and standing seam metal-pitched roof. Work will also include fire protection suppression systems and adequately sized parking lots. The facility will be constructed to meet current AT/FP and handicapped accessible standards. The Temporary Lodging Facility (TLF) portion will include replacing existing TLF?s with a new 2-story, 50-unit Temporary Lodging Facility and provide a central bulk storage room/administrative office for housekeeping services. Provide 25 single-family units with a 2-bedroom configuration, full bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, and storage area. Also provide 25 single room configurations with full bathrooms and kitchens. The facilities will be constructed of masonry walls and steel frames, reinforced concrete foundation and floor slabs, brick veneer facing, and a standing seam metal-pitched roof. Work will include fire protection/suppression systems and adequately sized parking lots. The facility will be constructed to meet current AT/FP and handicapped accessibility standards. The forthcoming solicitation is expected to be unrestricted best value. The Government is expected to begin formal solicitation the end of January or beginning of February 2007, via the NAVFAC Washington eSolicitation website; https://esol.navfac.navy.mil. The Government does not wish to receive any questions or responses regarding this 'Notice of Intent', and the Government does not intend to respond to any correspondence that might be submitted. Further instructions and other information will be provided with the forthcoming 'formal solicitation'.
