- Description
- Project 228 Mechanical Fuels Reduction Project. Mow/mulch vegetation on approximately 47 acres and thin/remove vegetation on approximately 82 acres on Bureau of Land Management Public Land. Conventional logging equipment would be used to thin ponderosa pine, thereby reducing the fuel loading, increasing the distance between tree crowns, and creating a more natural, clumpy structure. Mechanical equipment such as a Hydro-mower or Hydro-axe would be used to mow/mulch vegetation within the project area to create larger openings and increase the distance between clumps. A mosaic of mature oak would be retained within the project area to benefit wildlife, create diversity within the vegetation, and enhance visual aesthetics. Approximately .5 miles of temporary road construction will need to be built. This project is set aside for small business concerns.
