- Subcontract Description 100-H Area 100-HR-1 and 100-HR-2 Operable Units Burial Grounds and Remaining Sites As part of the ongoing effort to clean up the U.S. Department of Energy?s (DOE) Hanford site in Southeastern Washington State, the river corridor closure contractor (RCCC) for the DOE, Washington Closure Hanford, (WCH) is seeking qualified small business to perform remedial action activities. The activities are associated with cleanup of waste sites in the 100-HR-1 and 100-HR-2 Operable Units in the 100-H Area. The work, regulated under CERCLA, is expected to commence in the summer of 2007, and require approximately 2 to 4 years to complete. The estimated subcontract value is $10-$20M. The work involves excavation and removal of radiologically and/or chemically contaminated soils and debris. Work may be performed in radiation areas (including High Radiation Areas and Airborne Radiation Areas) and in various levels of PPE (including supplied air). This work scope is for the remedial actions for the 100-HR-1 and 100-HR-2 Operable Units (OU) burial grounds 118-H-1, 118-H-2, 118-H-3, 118-H-4, 118-H-5 and remaining sites 100-H-33, 116-H-5, 116-H-9, 600-152 and 100-H-37. 100-H Burial Grounds ? 118-H-1 The 118-H-1 Burial Ground consists of numerous trenches with unknown depth that was used for disposal of contaminated material and equipment. ? 118-H-2 The 118-H-2 Burial Ground contains two in-line concrete vaults. ? 118-H-3 The 118-H-3 Burial Ground consists of two trenches that was used for disposal of contaminated material and equipment. ? 118-H-4 The 118-H-4 Burial Ground consists of one trench that was used to dispose of contaminated material and equipment resulting from the Ball 3X Project. ? 118-H-5 The 118-H-5 Burial Ground one trench that was used to dispose of thimble assembles. 100-H Remaining Sites ? 100-H-33 100-H-33 Evaporation Basin consists of a four concrete basins used to store waste from the 300 Area Fuel Fabrication facilities. Waste was removed form the basins in 1989 and the sites were backfill and renegotiated. ? 116-H-5 The 116-H-5 Outfall Structure is located on the Columbia River Shoreline. The outfall is an open topped concrete structure that directed reactor cooling water in to the Columbia River. ? 116-H-9 The 116-H-9 site is a gravel filled crib used to dispose of liquid was associated with the air filter building. ? 600-152 The 600-152 site consists of a Military Septic Tank located approximately ? mile upstream from the 100 H Area. ? Mud Dauber Areas The Mud Dauber site consist of a large area (~25 acres) of locally radiological ?Hotspots? surrounding the 100 H Reactor Area. The contaminated materials will be size reduced as necessary, and loaded into 20-ton containers. The containers will be staged and manifested for transport to Hanford?s Environmental Restoration disposal Facility (ERDF). The work to be completed does not include the transportation to and disposal of the contaminated material at ERDF.
