Description
The Bureau of Reclamation, Hoover Dam, Boulder City, Nevada, is seeking sources for Conservators specializing in different types of materials to perform a Collection Condition Survey on the Hoover Dam Collection. This requirement will be completed in two blocks. The collection contains approximately 5600 artifacts. Nearly two thirds of the collection is archival and includes postcards, brochures, booklets, newspaper clippings, newsletters and photographs. The remaining portion of the collection includes badges, electrical instruments, clothing, artwork, models, ethnographic pieces and other miscellaneous objects. Primary material types include paper, wood, metal, glass, textitles and synthetics. In Block 1, Reclamation will hire one or more field appropriate conservators to perform an on-site conservation survey (Collection Condition Survey) on the "Hoover Dam Collection". Artifact condition assessments and treatment recommendations identified in the final conservation report will be reviewed by museum personnel to determine what stabilization measures, restoration, or other necessary treatments shall be performed. In Block 2, stabilization measures, restoration and other necessary treatments will be performed on artifacts selected by the museum personnel based on the conservator's recommendations identified in the Conservation Survey Report. The conservators shall provide Reclamation with treatment reports, by accession or artifact, when conservation work is complete. Interested parties should submit a response to this announcement. Responses should clearly state the name, address, telephone, and fax numbers and e-mail address of their company. The response should be in the form of a resume that shows their qualifications and experience that would demonstrate their capability to accomplish the above stated requirements. They should include a list of similar past projects with references, names and phone numbers. Conservators must comply with the Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) in all work. Also, include information regarding your small business status, e.g. 8(a) program, small disadvantaged, woman-owned, service disabled veteran, Hubzone, etc. Resumes and a list of similar past projects should be provided no later than February 16, 2007, to Leslie Leavitt at: Bureau of Reclamation, PO Box 61470, Boulder City, NV 89006-1470 or fax to: (702) 293-8050, or e-mail to: lleavitt@lc.usbr.gov
