- SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), Ohio is seeking an 8(a) small business source to provide information technology support. This Sources Sought Synopsis is published for Market Research purposes only. The Air Force intends to award from a Federal Supply Schedule, in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 8.4 for this requirement. The purpose of this Sources Sought Synopsis is to determine if there are any 8(a) businesses available who are capable of providing the AFIT technical and operational support of their educational and research mission through life-cycle management that includes planning, budgeting, integration, operation and maintenance of state-of-the-art communications and computer systems. All services performed on this contract will be at AFIT, located on Area B, 2950 Hobson Way, WPAFB, Ohio 45433 and at 3100 Research Park, Kettering, Ohio 45420. The period of performance for this acquisition is five (5) years. One (1) base year plus four (4) option years, starting approximately 7 September 2007. This acquisition is reserved for 8(a) small business. This Sources Sought Synopsis is in support of market research being conducted by the Air Force to identify capable potential sources. Contractors responding to this Sources Sought Synopsis shall submit the following information to: Christal Green, email: christal.green@wpafb.af.mil by 12 Noon E.S.T. on Tuesday, 06 February 2007. Firms responding to this announcement should indicate their size, particularly if they are a small business, small disadvantaged business, woman-owned small business, HUBZone small business or service disabled veteran-owned small business, and should also indicate if the firm is foreign-owned. Foreign contractor participation is not permitted. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 541519 applies to this acquisition with a size standard of $23,000,000.00. All interested parties shall submit a letter of intent no later than the close of this sources sought synopsis. For your information an overview of some of the required services is provided below. The Government will neither award a contract solely on the basis of this sources sought synopsis nor will it reimburse the contractor for any costs associated with preparing or submitting a response to this notice. This synopsis does not constitute a Request for Quotation (RFQ), Request for Proposal (RFP), or an Invitation for Bid (IFB), nor does this issuance restrict the Government?s acquisition approach. The Government reserves the right to reject in whole or in part any industry input as a result of this announcement. If the Government decides to award a contract for this or related effort, a synopsis and a solicitation will be published. OVERVIEW The Air Force Institute of Technology requires technical and operational support of their educational and research mission through life-cycle management that includes planning, budgeting, integration, operation and maintenance of state-of-the-art communications and computer systems. AFIT is a component of Air University (AU). AFIT is committed to providing defense-focused graduate and professional continuing education and research to sustain the technological supremacy of America?s air and space forces. AFIT accomplishes this mission through three resident schools: the Graduate School of Engineering and Management, the School of Systems and Logistics (a non-degree granting professional continuing education school), and the Civil Engineer and Services School (also a non-degree granting professional continuing education school). Through the Graduate School?s civilian institution program, AFIT also manages the educational programs of officers enrolled in civilian universities, research centers, hospitals, and industrial organizations. AFIT?s information technology support requirements include operation and maintenance of the AFIT network, installation and maintenance of the software on network servers, print servers, administration of desktop systems and workstations, mobile and remote user access systems, routing and switching infrastructure, web services and other computer hardware used to support AFIT?s mission. AFIT also maintains legacy database applications that track all student, faculty and staff functions at AFIT.
