- The Maritime Administration (MARAD) is conducting a Market Survey to identify potential sources that currently possess the expertise, capabilities and experience necessary to meet the agency's requirement and to receive feedback from interested commercial sources as to the work to be performed for the proposed conversion of the ex-USNS SIRIUS to a training ship for Texas A&M University in Galveston, TX. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) or an Invitation for Bid (IFB) and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The government will not reimburse any contractor for any costs incurred as a result of participation in this survey and participation may not necessarily result in your company being able to participate in the resulting solicitation. The information provided will aid in the development of the procurement strategy for these requirements. This is a new requirement. The ship is presently located in Galveston, Texas. Any U.S. Ship Repair Company wishing to participate should supply price estimates for the conversion work required to meet Coast Guard and ABS requirements for the new schoolship, inclusive of a breakdown of prices for items a. through k. below; an approximate timetable; along with a capability statement. The proposed work to be accomplished is as follows: New joiner bulkheads, bulkheads and furnishings as required for: a. Passageways b. Stateroom & T/S, including bulks, sinks, etc. c. Classrooms d. Offices, including lockers e. Labs f. Mess Areas, including tables, chairs, storage g. Galleys, including sinks, stoves, ovens, dishwasher h. Stairways i. Lounges, including furniture, lamps j. Stores k. Misc. The following drawings are attached as guidance for the scope of work to be performed. a. Master Conversion Plan level 02, 03, 04, 05 and 06 b. Master Conversion Plan Main Deck and level 01 c. Master Conversion Plan 3rd Deck and 2nd Deck d. Master Conversion Plan 5th Deck and 4th Deck e. Master Conversion Plan Inboard Profile f. Master Conversion Plan Outboard Profile All responses should be submitted electronically to Barbara.Gillum@dot.gov no later than 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2007.
