Description
Access Restoration to Burden Creek Site NAICS Code 332312. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, located in Research Triangle Park, NC, has a requirement for a portable (temporary) bridge to be located on the EPA campus to provide access to a remote air sampling site (Burden Creek). The project consist of the installation of a portable bridge system over an existing 40' timber bridge located on Old Jenkins Road (S.R. 1975) Durham County, NC. This portable bride can either be used or new. The access is necessary for vehicular traffic to access a remote research facility/site where active environmental research and development is on-going. Therefore, vehicular access to the remote research facility will need to be restored as economically and expeditiously as possible. The portable bridge shall be built on-site from new or used pre-engineered system of readily assembled components. There should be little or no site preparation or disturbance required, as this will be a temporary solution that may require the portable bridge to be removed/relocated at a later date. The contractor shall provide the temporary bridge including the following: freight/transportation, dismantle and load materials from trucks, site preparation (as necessary), and erection of the pre-engineered bridge on the final location. Bridge Requirements: Burdens Creek, at the proposed portable bridge location along Old Jenkins Road has a gap approximately 13 feet wide, requiring and approximate bridge span of 40 feet at the minimum. The proposed location is accessed by a one lane gravel/dirt road. The portable bridge may be new or used. The portable bridge must have, at a minimum, the capacity to hold a vehicle load of H10 or 18 tons. Low volume traffic use is expected. The width of the proposed portable bridge shall be one-lane with a minimum curb-to-curb distance of 12 feet -6 inches and 14 feet inside-to-inside of the truss/guardrail capable of accommodating emergency and fire apparatus, trucks and tractor trailers. The flooring grid components shall be serrated fro improved skid resistance. The preferred final finish shall be lusterless light gray. Please be aware the proper Department of Transportation (DOT) load ratings and markings must also be provided. The Government has scheduled a site visit for February 07, 2007 at 10:00 am. All interested parties shall notify the Contracting Officer, Antonio Leathers at (919)541-2312, to make reservation for attending the site visit. Driving directions and other information concerning our campus can be obtained at http://www.epa.gov/rtp/new-bldg/location/location.htm. NAICS Code 332312 applies with a small business size standard of 500 employees. The Request for Proposal (RFP) be awarded under FAR Part 12 "Acquisition of Commercial Items". The RFP is expected to be issued on or about February 09, 2007 as a full and open competition.
