THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR KSC INTERNSHIP. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. This Amendment is issued to the Solicitation to answer questions received from potential offerors. Due date is not extended. 1. Answer 1: No, the program will recruit from numerous colleges and universities. Question 2: How long is a program cycle? Answer 2: There is 1 year in each cycle. The cooperative agreement will be for one year with two, one-year options. Therefore proposers should submit a proposed three year budget, by year 1, year 2, year 3. Questioon 3: What is a ?term? for this program? Answer 3: A "term" can be either an academic semester or quarter, depending on which system the academic institution operates on. Question 4: Will internships be available throughout the year? Answer 4: An internship can be available through a year, however, it is anticipated most students will work 1 or 2 terms. The internship may be part-time or for more than 1 term, depending on the needs of KSC and the availability of the student. Question 5: When can the first set of students begin to participate in the program? Answer 5: The first set of students will begin to participate in May 2007. Question 6: The notice states ?presolicitation?. Will there be an actual solicitation issued or is this it? Answer 6: This is it; all in one solicitation. Questions 7: Will college students from out of the local area be considered for acceptance into the internship program? Answer 7: Yes. Question 8: Will housing be provided for interns who are from out of the area? Answer 8: No housing is provided and is considered the responsibility of the student to locate. Question 9: What is the anticipated length of each internship? Answer 9: A "term" can be either an academic semester or quarter, depending on which system the academic institution operates on. The internship may be part-time or for more than 1 term, depending on the needs of KSC and the availability of the student. Question 10: Will HS Seniors be accepted for summer intern programs, or will those seniors also fill spots during the school year? Answer 10: It is anticipated high school seniors will work one 1 summer, prior to the start of their freshman year, however, some may be invited to work part time while attending college full time. It is NOT intended for high school/undergraduate students to work in the program long term while they earn a degree (over 4 or 5 years). Most will work one or two semesters. Question 11: Is there an estimated value (hourly, weekly, or monthly) for each stipend paid to each student? Answer 11: Hourly pay rates. Therefore proposers should submit a proposed three year budget, by year 1, year 2, year 3. Question 13: Would students enrolled in agricultural fields of study be eligible for these internships? Answer 13: No, NASA at the John F. Kennedy Space Center does not plan to recruit students pursuing degrees in agricultural fields of study. Question 14: What is the grant floor and ceiling? Answer 14: The number of students will vary during the duration of the program. We have provided the per cost stipend for varying levels of students and NASA will fund those as selected. Proposers should focus on their costs to administer such a program, given that the anticipated number of students is about 25-50 students as stated in the solicitation.
