- This is a sources sought notice and NOT a Request for Proposal. The purpose of this announcement is to determine the potential of qualified Offerors that can provide fabrication of various architectural elements of Historic Cemetery Monuments. The National Park Service, Historic Preservation Training Center has a requirement for the fabrication of three separate elements of a type of sandstone to yet be determined, or salvaged Aquai Creek Sandstone. The Government would furnish the raw material that would consist of stone in dimensional blocks requiring the Offeror to fabricate specific elements as follows: (1) Conical Capstone Fabrication, not more than 70 each , raw material dimension 24" x 24" x 12". Final fabrication shall be in a circular form; (2) Inset Panel Fabrication, no more than 200 each, raw material dimension of Upper Body Stone Sections 30" x 30" x 30" with the following specific requirements: Fabricate four inset panels per cube: One panel per three sides at 18" x 18" square to a smooth finished depth of one inch; One panel per one side at 18" x 18" square to a rough finished depth of two inches. Each panel inset shall be square at all sides, and a true 90 degrees at all intersecting corners with a smooth flat surface finish all sides. All saw or tooling marks shall be removed to smooth honed finish. All stone bedding planes shall run horizontally on four panel sides; (3) Lower Body Stone Water Table Fabrication, raw material dimension of 48" X 48" X 11 ? ". Material shall be tapered on all sides out 9" and down ?". Responses to this announcement shall be sent in writing, no later than 12:00 p.m. on February 23, 2007 to: Sheila Rushlow, Contracting Officer, Historic Preservation Training Center, 4801A Urbana Pike, Frederick, MD 21701 Response shall include: (1) Six photographs of previous cut sandstone which demonstrates the ability to do angle or conical work equal to, or with a greater degree of difficulty to the work identified above; (4) Identify either in-house or subcontractor capability to cut stone; and (4) Identify either in-house or subcontractor capability to provide all handling, packing and freight requirements for shipping to: Congressional Cemetery, Washington, D.C.
