- The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate solely with LANSA Inc, 3010 Highland Parkway, Suite 950, Downer?s Grove, Illinois, 60515 for continued software maintenance and for upgrades for Government owned, NewLook software products under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1 ?Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements?. NewLook is a product LookSoftware Inc; LookSoftware will not sell this maintenance directly to the government. LANSA is the only re-seller authorized to provide such services at this time. SSA intends to establish an IDIQ contract for continued maintenance on this proprietary software which is already installed and operating in a production environment on Government machines. This software tool is used for the Graphical User Interface (GUI) front-end to the SSA-developed Modernized Integrated Disability Adjudication System (MIDAS) case processing system located at the Disability Determination Service (DDS) offices in California, Missouri, Delaware, Alaska, Guam, Virgin Islands along with Western Program Service Center (PSC), Office of International Operations PSC, Mid-Atlantic PSC, Mid-America PSC, and Great Lakes PSC. The MIDAS application runs on an IBM iSeries as a SSA centralized case processing production system. SSA currently owns and maintains 2,725 copies of NewLook Standard Edition Software and 21 copies of NewLook Professional Edition Software. All services and maintenance would be carried out at any SSA designated site. LANSA is the only source known to the government that is capable of providing upgrades and maintenance support for these proprietary software products. The period of performance shall be for 60 months, starting July 2007. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill this requirement. A solicitation is NOT available. Therefore, written and/or verbal requests for copies of a solicitation related to this announcement will not be honored. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
