- Description
- Under the US Department of Energy sponsorship, the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is conducting research to generate hydrogen using solid oxide cells by high temperature (~830?C) electrolysis (HTE) of steam. In another parallel project, the INL is investigating the feasibility of producing syngas by simultaneously electrolyzing steam and carbon dioxide at high temperature (~830?C) using solid oxide cells. The syngas initial research has been funded by INL internal laboratory research and development funds. The INL is soliciting interest from developers and manufacturers to collaborate with the INL in testing solid oxide cell designs under HTE conditions and to evaluate the scalability of cell designs required for commercial applications. Participating companies will be expected to provide solid oxide cells (as a in-kind contribution or at a nominal cost) to the INL for the test period. It is unlikely that any (or a significant amount of) DOE funding will be available for the participating company(ies) for their participation in this research. Companies having interest in collaborating with the INL should provide an expression of interest on or before March 31, 2007. Business Contact: David R.
